In the late 70s and early 80s, customers’ demands for barcode readers grew exponentially, and Dr. Romano Volta decided to expand his product and solution offerings outside the industrial automation market. Thus he entered the world of retail and office automation applications. The first optical pen was developed: the first handheld reader in Datalogic's history.
