Matrix 220

Simplicity, Flexibility & Performance

Matrix 220

Introduction

The Matrix 220 imager is engineered for exceptional performance, featuring a 1.2 MP high-resolution sensor, a new multicore image processing platform, innovative lighting solutions, electronic focus technology and industrial-grade robustness. This makes it ideal for Electronics, Automotive, Packaging, Intralogistics and Document Handling applications.
DPM Traceability in manufacturing is made easy when using the Matrix 220 DPM models, leading to greater efficiency and flexibility.

Simplicity is a hallmark of the Matrix 220, with green and red spotlights, the X-Press™ button, an intuitive HMI, and the DL.CODE™ configuration software with Automatic Setup mode for quick and easy code reading.

Simplicity

Simplicity

The Matrix 220 comes equipped with DL.Code from Datalogic, a user-friendly and intuitive configuration utility featuring Enhanced AutoSetup. Given the demanding nature of work and production schedules, minimal interruptions are essential. DL.Code ensures the entire configuration process is completed in minutes. AutoSetup guides users through the process, guaranteeing robust and stable reading performance for all barcode variants, including difficult-to-read DPM variants. Initial setup is quickly achievable, and reconfigurations typically take under 60 seconds, allowing for seamless adjustments between production batch changes without manual trial and error. In today's critical applications that support supply chain traceability, Datalogic ensures no time is wasted.

Flexibility

All Matrix 220 models provide everything required to get up and running, straight out of the box!

  • Electronic Focus and Rotating Connectors: Provide flexibility in mounting, even in constrained spaces.
  • DPM Versions: Ensure perfect lighting for the most critical codes, whether engraved, embossed, or laser-etched on metal, plastic, glass, and more.
  • Multi-Reader Layout: With internal IDNET network support, enables multi-sided or array solutions to extend the covered reading area.
  • Comprehensive Accessories: Cover accessories (ESD, anti-YAG protections), cables, and connectivity options ensure quick and seamless integration into any type of machine.

Additionally, the Matrix 220 is the first stationary industrial scanner supporting the OPC UA protocol for Industry 4.0 communication. It offers cost-effective communication options, including Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity and onboard PROFINET/IO and ETHERNET/IP industrial fieldbus.

Performance

Simplicity and flexibility mean nothing without performance. The Matrix 220 consistently delivers exceptional reading rates, speed, and stability. Here’s how it excels:

  • Comprehensive DPM Coverage: Effectively reads all critical DPM codes on various materials using different marking techniques.
  • High-Speed Applications: Handles standard printed labels at an impressive 50 cycles per second.
  • Reliable in Critical Conditions: Operates efficiently with an IP65 rating and a temperature range of 0 to 50°C (14 to 122°F).

The Matrix 220 DPM code reader is specifically tailored for high-performance capture of DPM codes, featuring a powerful processor and inbuilt machine learning and AI. This ensures high-speed code capture without impacting throughput, even for the most challenging DPM codes with noisy backgrounds or low contrast.

Its integrated ultra-flexible illumination system, combining red/blue light models with polarized and diffused light options, provides optimal illumination on any surface. This makes the Matrix 220 perfect for reading codes marked with Direct Part Marking (DPM).
